NewsXchange Workshop (2011/11/02, Cascais)

Arnaud Dupont and Benoit Landousy led a workshop with 50 news executives from various horizons during the NewsXchange conference in Cascais, Portugal. This workshop, based on NewsNext latest research from the study Trends in News 2011, outlined key editorial innovations and narrative trends on news television through a selection of meaningful case studies from various horizons.

News Narratives and Formats: The Quest for Success (workshop summary)

"Tsunami in Japan, Arab spring, financial crisis… The endless flow of breaking news which took over our screens during the last months may have eclipsed another reality: the profound movement that is changing the outlook for news formats and narratives.
In an all-digital world where television meets Web 2.0, the paradigm of news and the expectations of citizens have deeply evolved and media players - whether legacy groups or young challengers - must find new solutions to tell stories and to draw audiences.
What are these solutions? How do traditional players keep the fire alive and modernize their flagship offers? Which formats enable young media to affirm their identity and to find their place in a crowded news landscape? What are the narrative recipes for success?"
